DVSA ORDIT Requirements

You must be an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
You must be a grade A (a grade A from your ADI part 3 test does not count).

NOTE: Although you can train and become an ORDIT accredited driving instructor trainer once you get a grade A on your standards check. We advise that it would be in your best interest to work as an ADI for a few years before taking on this role.

Why is experience important?

You will lack on the job experience as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and may lack skill and/or knowledge which could hinder your training as a DVSA ORDIT trainer. This lack of experience and knowledge may get you into a tricky situation when asked a question by a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) or the ORDIT assessor (ADI Enforcement Manager) for which you are unable to answer.

Trainee driving instructors will look at you with high regard as the wise one who holds the highest level of skill and knowledge. Likewise, the ORDIT assessor will also expect you to have a high level of skill and knowledge which you will share with PDIs in order to help them through the driving instructor examination process and become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

Is that it?

No. You need to train in delivery of ADI Part 1, ADI Part 2 and ADI Part 3 training to PDIs, and ADI remedial training to ADIs. You'll also need to pass the ORDIT assessment with a grade A.

Don't worry, getting you through this is what we're going to help you achieve!
