DVSA ORDIT Requirements

You must of been an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) for a minimum of 1 year.

Although you can become an Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers (ORDIT) Approved Driving Instructor Trainer (ADIT) after being an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) for only one year. We advise that it would be in your best interest to work as an ADI for a few years before taking on this role.

Why is experience important?

You will lack on the job experience as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) and may lack skill and/or knowledge which could hinder your training as a Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers (ORDIT) trainer. This lack of experience and knowledge may get you into a tricky situation when asked a question by a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) or the Supervising Examiner (SE) for which you are unable to answer.

Trainee driving instructors will look at you with high regard as the wise one who holds the highest level of skill and knowledge. Likewise, the examiner will also expect you to have a high level of skill and knowledge which you will share with PDIs in order to help them through the driving instructor examination process and become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

Is that it?

No. You'll still need to pass the Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers (ORDIT) premises inspection and Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers (ORDIT) Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 tests as mentioned in the Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers (ORDIT) terms and conditions.

Don't worry, getting you through all this is what we're going to help you achieve!
